Is PAN Necessary for Mutual Fund Investment?

What is PEKRN?

PEKRN stands for PAN Exempt Investor Category. In case an investor does not have PAN, then he/she can invest up to Rs 50,000 per year per mutual fund by giving his PEKRN as an alternate proof of identity.

Why I cannot invest more than 50,000 without KYC?

Regulations require an investor to be KYC Compliant. If you are not KYC Compliant, you can still invest up to Rs 50,000 if you have a valid PEKRN.
